IoT Identifier Service based-Public Food Quality Safety Traceability Platform and its Social Impacts

Nowadays, Information and Communication Technology developments have great impacts on traditional industries, thereby resulting in their competitiveness enhancements. This paper focuses on the collaboration of food industry and the state-of-the-art internet of things technologies and presents an internet of things identifier service based-quality safety traceability system. First, the motivation of building a public traceability system is analyzed, and the internet of things identifier service is introduced for the implementation of such platform. One of the internet of things identifier techniques, the Handle System, is selected by China as the key technique in the ''National Food Quality Safety Traceability Platform''. Its design idea, system composition, core technology and standardization issues are illustrated. Finally, its social impacts on the government, the industry, the production enterprises and the public are addressed.
